  • FEATURES

Fiordland - Walking Capital of the World: Fiordland is one of the southern hemisphere’s great wilderness regions and has achieved World Heritage Status for its stunning natural features, exceptional beauty and role in demonstrating the earth’s evolutionary history.

Fiordland's National Park is over 1.2 million hectares in size, encompassing mountain, lake, fiord and rainforest environments offering extraordinary scenic beauty.

The Fiordland National Park includes Milford, Dusky and Doubtful Sounds. Milford Sound was described by Rudyard Kipling as the Eighth Wonder of the World. Home to the beautiful lakeside towns of Te Anau and Manapouri, and the Kepler, Milford and Routeburn Tracks, Fiordland is known as the sightseeing and walking capital of the world.

The Milford Track is described as 'the finest walk in the world'. It is a must in Fiordland. The track winds past Fiordland's grandest landscapes; including crystal-clear lakes, soaring peaks and enormous, wide valleys. You will also have opportunity to get up close and personal with the native flora and fauna.

The Routeburn Track offers spectacular alpine views and alpine flowers. Think soaring peaks, enormous valleys, waterfalls, and alpine lakes. Look out for the cheeky kea, the world's only alpine parrot, as well as tomtits, robins and fantails.

Lake Marian Track is from Hollyford Road to beautiful Lake Marian - an alpine lake in a beautiful hanging valley. Lake Marian is an alpine lake in a hanging valley formed by glacial action, in one of the most beautiful settings in Fiordland. The lake is above the bush line and is surrounded by mountains with magnificent reflections if the weather is calm.

The Kelper Track was custom-built for pleasure and designed to show you all the best features of Fiordland - mountains, native forest, waterfalls and glacier-carved valleys.

Carved by glaciers over 100,000 years the landscape is one where waterfalls cascade hundreds of metres into deep black fiords; where ancient rainforest untouched by man clings to mountains and where shimmering lakes and granite peaks look as they did a thousand years ago.

Reflecting the landscape with unimpeded views of Lake Te Anau.

Fiordland Lodge offers the discerning traveller style, comfort and privacy, yet is only five kilometres from the township of Te Anau. Set on a superb site with commanding views out across Lake Te Anau this is a rural setting with rolling grass lands surrounding the Lodge, Lake Te Anau being a mere ten minute walk away. Across the lake to the west lie the mountains of Fiordland National Park, an area of over three million acres of untouched wilderness and part of the much larger South West New Zealand World Heritage Area.

    Changes to Itineraries

In the event that we are forced to change your arrangements, substitute arrangements of a similar standard will be provided. The tour operator will not be liable where interruptions to itineraries are caused by weather conditions, technical problems to transport used by the tour operator, industrial action, political or civil commotion or other circumstances beyond our control. We refer you to the conditions regarding travel insurance.

While we will do its utmost to honour its pricing unforeseen circumstances may mean that prices may be subject to change without notice.

Pre-Existing Medical Conditions and Age Limits
You need to advise OCT4 PTY LTD and the tour operator on any pre-existing medical condition, mobility impairment and/or disability that might reasonably be expected to increase the risk of your requiring medical attention, or that might affect the normal conduct of a trip and the enjoyment of other trip members. OCT 4 PTY LTD and the tour operator may require an assessment of your medical condition from a qualified medical practitioner. If you fail to adequately notify the tour operator of any pre-existing medical conditions and/or disability, the tour operator reserves the right, at its reasonable discretion, to cancel your participation in a trip at any time, including after the commencement of your trip, with no right of refund if your medical condition, mobility impairment and/or disability could be reasonably expected to affect the normal conduct of the trip and the enjoyment of other trip members.

    Cancellation by The Tour Operator
The walks take place in very special wilderness settings. The tour operator is at the mercy of nature in all her beauty and all her fury. The tour operator will under no circumstance knowingly place at risk the health and well-being of our guests and guides. In the case of natural threats, acts of God and the like (e.g. bushfires, impassable snow, etc) the tour operator may need to cancel a walk with very little notice. In some cases, this can occur after the walk has commenced. The tour operator reserves the right to cancel any walk up to 60 days prior to departure if a minimum of 4 walkers are unable to meet for a tour. If the tour operator needs to cancel for any reason, the cost of the walk or any other costs associated with travel to the designated pick up point, overnight accommodation, meals, etc will not be covered by the OCT4 PTY LTD and therefore we strongly recommend travel insurance be taken out prior to travel.

    Force Majeure
'Force Majeure' means (without restriction) any event which OCT4 Pty Ltd or its third party providers could not, even with due care, foresee or avoid. Force Majeure covers events such as, but not limited to, adverse weather conditions, fire and all similar events beyond our control. In the case of Force Majeure OCT4 Pty Ltd will not accept liability, and reserves the right to change and cancel trips.

    Evacuations
In rare circumstances, due to injury or unforeseen illness, the tour operator may need to evacuate you from a remote part of the walk. Helicopter evacuations are expensive and in most cases will be at a cost to the customer.

For Australian residents, under the Australian Government Medicare Act, it is prohibited for any domestic travel insurance product to provide any financial reimbursement with regard to ambulance or air ambulance services. We therefore strongly advise our customers to take specific ambulance cover through their health insurance provider. Evacuation cost will not be covered by the OCT4 PTY LTD and therefore it is also strongly recommended that our customers take out travel insurance to cover (amongst other things) the costs associated with evacuation.

    Travel Insurance
In view of the heavy cancellation penalties applied to cancelled reservations in certain circumstances, we strongly recommends suitable travel insurance be purchased at the time the holding deposit is paid. We recommend insurance cover that covers any loss which may be suffered due to cancellation. We also strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance against loss of baggage and medical expenses.

Especially, we loved the food and wine! Our guides are very professional. We walked a few different tracks. The pace was good and got chance to rest and take in the views. Highly recommended.

reviews I was a solo traveller. The guides were fantastic. They looked out for me and kept me well informed. All the hikers were lovely too. I felt comfortable and safe doing this experience alone. This tour was a great way to see and experience New Zealand. I totally enjoyed the heli hike of the Kepler Track and the Milford Sound Cruise. I've never anything like that before. I will definitly consider another hiking adventure again through Onlyluxe.
