  • FEATURES

Waiheke Island is the most populated and second-largest island in the Hauraki Gulf of New Zealand, a haven of beautiful vineyards, olive groves and beaches. Whether it be landscape, lifestyle or experience, Waiheke is a world away from anywhere else.

Rotorua The geothermal and cultural capital of New Zealand is quite a surreal place, where you're surrounded by steaming hot springs (even in the middle of town) and geysers, bubbling mud pools, sulphuric smells, lush rainforest, glistening lakes and rich indigenous culture. Rotorua is a small city, blessed with enviable natural attributes either right in town, or very close by. It's little wonder that this region was heavily settled in the 17th century by Maori tribes, who had heard tales of its otherworldly landscapes, and miraculous cures for various ailments from hot pools and therapeutic mud. Today mineral bathing and treatment in the thermal pools are still a must-do here.

Tongariro National Park is the oldest national park in New Zealand, located in the central North Island. It has been acknowledged by UNESCO as one of the 28 mixed cultural and natural World Heritage Sites. This recognises the important Maori cultural and spiritual associations as well as its outstanding volcanic features. It covers almost 80,000 hectares and features some of New Zealand's most contrasting landscapes.

Fiordland National Park: is one of the southern hemisphere's great wilderness regions and has achieved World Heritage Status for its stunning natural features, exceptional beauty and role in demonstrating the earth's evolutionary history.

The Milford Track: is described as "the finest walk in the world”. It is a must in Fiordland. The track winds past Fiordland's grandest landscapes; including crystal-clear lakes, soaring peaks and enormous, wide valleys. You will also have opportunity to get up close and personal with the native flora and fauna.

The Routeburn Track: offers spectacular alpine views and alpine flowers. Think soaring peaks, enormous valleys, waterfalls, and alpine lakes. Look out for the cheeky kea, the world's only alpine parrot, as well as tomtits, robins and fantails.

The Kepler Track: offers vistas of lakes Te Anau and Manapouri. It winds past the alpine grassland of the Jackson Peaks, beech forest, mountains, native forest, glacier-carved valleys and waterfalls. Huge limestone formations make for great photos, and large river flats give your legs a rest from climbing.Plenty of native birds can be spotted when you winding through mossy beech forests.

    Cancellation by The Tour Operator
The walks take place in very special wilderness settings. The tour operator is at the mercy of nature in all her beauty and all her fury. The tour operator will under no circumstance knowingly place at risk the health and well-being of our guests and guides. In the case of natural threats, acts of God and the like (e.g. bushfires, impassable snow, etc) the tour operator may need to cancel a walk with very little notice. In some cases, this can occur after the walk has commenced. The tour operator reserves the right to cancel any walk up to 60 days prior to departure if a minimum of 4 walkers are unable to meet for a tour. If the tour operator needs to cancel for any reason, the cost of the walk or any other costs associated with travel to the designated pick up point, overnight accommodation, meals, etc will not be covered by the OCT4 PTY LTD and therefore we strongly recommend travel insurance be taken out prior to travel.

    Force Majeure
'Force Majeure' means (without restriction) any event which OCT4 Pty Ltd or its third party providers could not, even with due care, foresee or avoid. Force Majeure covers events such as, but not limited to, adverse weather conditions, fire and all similar events beyond our control. In the case of Force Majeure OCT4 Pty Ltd will not accept liability, and reserves the right to change and cancel trips.

    Evacuations
In rare circumstances, due to injury or unforeseen illness, the tour operator may need to evacuate you from a remote part of the walk. Helicopter evacuations are expensive and in most cases will be at a cost to the customer.

For Australian residents, under the Australian Government Medicare Act, it is prohibited for any domestic travel insurance product to provide any financial reimbursement with regard to ambulance or air ambulance services. We therefore strongly advise our customers to take specific ambulance cover through their health insurance provider. Evacuation cost will not be covered by the OCT4 PTY LTD and therefore it is also strongly recommended that our customers take out travel insurance to cover (amongst other things) the costs associated with evacuation.

    Travel Insurance
In view of the heavy cancellation penalties applied to cancelled reservations in certain circumstances, we strongly recommends suitable travel insurance be purchased at the time the holding deposit is paid. We recommend insurance cover that covers any loss which may be suffered due to cancellation. We also strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance against loss of baggage and medical expenses.
