    Located within the Tongariro National Park, New Zealand's oldest national park, Tongariro Alpine Crossing features dramatic alpine and volcanic landscapes. Climb around the edges of old lava flows, pass active craters, and marvel at volcanic peaks.     Enclosed by the pristine native forest of Te Urewera National Park, Lake Waikaremoana is believed to be New Zealand's last frontier. It is the ancestral home of the Maori tribe Ngai Tuhoe - the 'Children of the Mist', and has the largest area of native forest in the North Island. Along the Lake Waikaremoana Tack, you will enjoy prehistoric rainforest, wetland, waterfalls, perfect sunsets, birdsong and spiritual history.

    This is a full guided and all inclusive walking tour. Each day you walk 4-7 hours over varied terrain on formed trails guided by experienced local guides.
