    After pickup from your Queenstown accommodation, departs Queenstown at 8:00am. From time to time, the road rises to superb vantage points where you will enjoy unparalleled panoramas of jagged, snow-capped mountains, rolling alpine farmland and acre upon acre of glorious lake land tussock meadows.

    Make your way on this great walk in Mount Aspiring National Park with a gradual ascent, through a magical 130 million year old world of ferns, mosses, lichens and beech forest. Every step can be a story as your knowledgeable guide will describe the forest plants, point out those with medicinal benefits and ensure you stop and meet the native birds which are plentiful.

    Just 6.5km, approximately 2.5 hours down the track, the woodlands part to reveal the rich grassland of Routeburn Flats, overlooked on all sides by majestic mountains.

    The Flats is a pristine site to stop for lunch. After a delicious Kiwi-style picnic lunch, we turn and enjoy the valley in reverse. Exploring the old paths of the Māori travellers as we travel along their old ‘Greenstone' trails, discovering more stories around each corner.

    Due to the nature of the terrain, altitude and alpine conditions, the duration of this walk is dependent on fitness levels can be tailored to the ability of each group. You can enjoy anything from a 13 kilometre to 18 kilometre return journey, as there is an option of walking another 1.5 hours to view the entire magnificent valley from the Routeburn Falls.

    Track condition is generally good but sturdy footwear is always advised. You will be provided with walking poles, refreshments and lunch. A full commentary is given and photo stops made while traveling by road to the start of these walks.

  • Kepler Track Heli Hike Day Tour, Fully Guided

    A guided day walk from Te Anau beginning with a scenic helicopter flight over the Hidden Lakes, beech forest and alpine area to Luxmore Hut on the Kepler Track.

    From this Department of Conservation Hut explore the alpine tussock fields and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding Fiordland mountains with the possibility of ascending to the summit of Mt Luxmore if you wish and weather and time allows.

    After time in the alpine area, hike down the mountain on the well-formed Kepler Track. The track descends through mountain and silver beech forest, and passes under towering limestone bluffs to the sandy beach of Brod Bay, the pick up point for the rewarding water taxi trip back to Te Anau.

    From Luxmore Hut it is a down hill walk (8km) requiring a medium level of fitness. If you wish to explore further past the Hut toward the Summit there would be an additional 1-3 hours walking up and down. There is a maximum of 12 walkers with a guide providing an opportunity to learn about the natural and human heritage of Fiordland. There are plenty of stops for photographs, bird-watching and interpretation along the way.

    Return Te Anau at around 5:00pm. We can arrange transfer to/from Queenstown at additional charges.

Returning to the mainland, journey into Fiordland National Park for the Kepler track and Milford Sound walks. Then you'll take a breathtaking helicopter flight over dramatic peaks into uninhabited Martins Bay in the heart of the Hollyford region. Explore this amazing landscape on foot with a walk through lush forest and coastal heath to a rocky bay, which is frequented by penguins and seals in season. Jet boat to the Hollyford River and walk along the Hollyford Valley, following the footsteps of early explorers through native beech forest speckled with elegantly flowing waterfalls.
